Overview

Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church (ECAC) is a growing, intergenerational and intercultural community of followers of Jesus. We are a Christ-centered, Spirit empowered, service minded and mission focused church with a vision to help people follow Jesus.

The Youth Pastor is responsible for the oversight and development of volunteers and ministry objectives for youth (from junior high to senior high) so that God’s vision for Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church may be furthered.

Reports to: The Senior Pastor

Supervises: Council members and other groups of leaders

Partners with: All other pastors

Characteristics and Skills

• Mature follower of Jesus who has a vibrant and growing relationship with God
• Spiritual leader in home, church and community
• A love for people (youth particular) with excellent people skills
• Excellent servant-leadership skills
• Strong desire to develop youth through mentorship/coaching
• Strong desire to help youth to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour

Passionate and supportive of the church vision

• Intrinsically motivated
• Connected well with current issues, needs and challenges that youth faces today
• Able to engage parents in spiritual development of youth
• Willing to meet with youth outside the church setting
• Able to think organizationally and develop proper systems
• Strong interpersonal and public communicator
• Ability to inviting, equipping and mobilizing volunteers

Primary Duties

Ministry to Youth and Their Families

• Develop and implement a unique ministry and philosophy for youth ministries that is consistent with the vision and strategies of ECAC
• Join the disciple making movement by developing disciples who makes disciples. Develop a workable disciple making journey geared toward the English-speaking congregation
• Be the primary leader, communicator and Bible teacher at youth gatherings and events
• Provide pastoral care for youth and their families
• Develop and oversee fellowships/groups for youth

Equipping Leaders

• Invite, develop, coach and disciple a group of leaders who share in the implementation of the church vision
• Develop a prayer support base for ministry

Other Duties

• Develop an annual budget that aligns with ministry plans
• Participate church weekly prayer meeting
• Preach regularly in worship services and in other gatherings
• Work with other pastors for other necessary ministry needs
• Attend staff meetings and correspondence

Qualifications

• Clear call to vocational ministry
• Must be licensed worker in the C&MA
• Must be willing and work well in a team environment
• Master or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Seminary/College
• Minimum 3 years of experience in young adults ministry equivalent

Hours per Week

• 37.5 hours per week, salary
• Plus average 5 volunteer hours per week
